Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Jacob G — 25 Feb 2017
Florence Foster Jenkins is a feel good movie with outstanding acting. That honestly is all there to this movie. It has been nominated for Best Leading Actress and Best Costume. And it deserves both these nominations. But a win might be difficult. Watch it for the comedy and Meryl Streep's "OVERRATED" performance as Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite who dreamed of becoming an opera singer, but had a terrible singing voice.
Supporting her are two other great performances, by Hugh Grant as her husband, and Simon Helberg as her pianist, who try very hard throughout the film to make sure that Florence doesn't find out how bad she is. It is a light hearted comedy and a one time watch.
