Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Dave H — 06 Sep 2016
Yes a simply delightful spoof with serious dramatic issues. Streep is a genius and makes Florence's case as a passionate lover of music and also delivers a magnificent effort at singing badly. The latter is no simple challenge. She is believable at both.
Simon Hedberg almost steal the show as the young accompanist. His eyes and facial expression confirm the comedic madness as Florence wails away. Hugh Grants natural charm comes thru too.
All and all a fun time not to be missed in this season of electoral madness. Someone could easily write a comparable political piece on both of the two rich characters who think they should be president.
