Review of Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) by Tristan F — 03 Apr 2017
"Everyone says I can't sing but they can't say I didn't sing", says Meryl Streep in the closing of the movie. The message is that we do not need to be the best to do what we love to do. Just do it and enjoy the ride. Obviously, she is not referring to herself as she again excels in the role of Floerence. Try making someone laugh by singing off key, it isn't as easy as one thinks.
This isn't epic filmmaking. The dramatic and climatic scene are almost none. Comedic moments aren't from clever dialogues but from physical and audio sources. It is fun and enjoyable and if you love Meryl like I do, then it is a must-see. Hugh Grant is added value.
