Review of Flipped (2010) by Sarvesh C — 10 Dec 2010

A sweet, well acted tale about young love. And thats about it. There are many things I loved about this movie. For instance, the girl who played Julie is one of the best child stars I have ever seen. I loved the development of the chars.

I love the emotional depth that is made into a premise so thin. The script was good, and the direction very well done. And it kept me entertained. But despite all these things, it wasnt perfect. Not all the actors are good, and I didnt think the person playing Bryce was at all.

The story also revolves around the persepcectives of the two main leads on events that had happened to them. It is a ciruclar love thing too. She loved him, she flips and soon doesnt love him (but she doesnt knwo for sure).

Then he fears/doesnt like her, he flips, hes in love with her. So yes, that is where the title Flipped comes in. Also, (this is not something they could help) the father is one of the biggest dicks to come in cienma history.

I mean at first you just think he is an asshole. Then you discover there might be something deeper so ur not too hard on him. And then all is forgotten when he slaps his daghter just because she stood up for Julie's family.

I mean ASSHOLE! And his and the daughters characters are completely gone from the movie after that. You dont get to know why he is such a jerk, and you really do want to. Many of the chars you grow to like are left uncompleted.

One last (small) rant-- They never kiss. They both end up loving each other, but it ends with them planting a Sycomor Tree, when they should have kissed. Thats what the whole movie was built on. But besdies uncompleted characters and the ending.

. it was really quite amazing. But girl who played Julie.. you rock! I will never make fun of you on the Subway commercials again. I flipped for you. 8/10.
