Whatever issues I had with this decidedly square, old-fashioned story, they couldn't successfully protect my heart from melting in the face of its sweet charm. Carroll's Juli is an impressive creation who soars above what doesn't work about the film she inhabits, flipping not only Bryce, but, I'd wager, anyone who's ever grown up.
