Review of Flight of the Red Balloon (2007) by Generoso F — 30 Apr 2008
The finest work by Hou Hsiou Hsien since Good Men Good Women. An astute homage to the French film The Red Balloon with a frantic performance by Binoche as a mother who is perpetually under the gun. Relief comes in the form of Song, a filmmaker who takes care of her incredibly thoughtful son.
A wonderfully meditative work from a master filmmaker.
