The flight of of the Red Balloon, the lastest fim by Taiwanese genius Hou Hsiao-hsien, is slow and quiet with plenty of activities. It looks like the movie is essentially plotless.
Beginning a scene where The balloon is FREE to roam, the flight of the red balloon offers a startlingly advanced use of editing, a couple of ways to structure a scene. The result is unexpected rhythms and visual surprises.
The flight of the red balloon is more like a rebirth of the film itself!
