Review of Flight (2012) by Olli H — 11 Jul 2013
"Flight" is about Cpt Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washington), whose heroic actions saves his airplane from total disaster. Emerging as a hero, Whip is in a troubling place because he is also an severe alcoholic & drug user...
"Flight" was a very difficult movie to watch because of the main character was not a human being but an alcohol/drug devouring monster who doesn't see the right path that is laid straight ahead of him and pushes off everyone who tries to help him. Even I didn't want him to get a happy ending.
The story starts powerfully with the visually stunning crash sequence but hits the brakes when we come to the romance part, which was quite forced & predictable and the ending is just the ending you thought would happen, so in the end, "Flight" stays in the air for about half of it's time but the end result is a nose dive to mediocrity.
