Review of Flight (2012) by Stefan N — 03 Oct 2013
It seems risky to put all the riveting action into the first half hour of a movie and then to slowly unwind a character study of an addict who lies to everyone including himself. For anyone who has struggled with alcohol or other substance abuse, the litany of false recoveries and rationalization rings true if hard to watch, especially in the climactic hearings into the plane disaster.
Yet, I found this worth every minute, admiring especialy both Denzil Washington's joylessness and the endearing, courageous druggie love interest, played by Kelly Reilly.
