Review of Flight (2012) by Michael Z — 01 Jan 2014
This a film where Denzel Washington plays disgraced pilot Captain Whip Whittaker who is battling alcoholism. By no means a bad film but it certainly isn't a great. The 1st half hour or so was brilliant, great tension, really kept me on the edge of my seat. As a result it meant that what followed on from that felt lethargic and pedestrian. Washington plays a good role but the film is missing a spark of some sort. I did enjoy it but I'm not in a rush to watch again.
Also at times the plot did feel slightly predictable although there were moments where you thought "Will Whip drink that booze or will he resist?" also the bit in the hearing where he asked about the 2 vodkas did keep me guessing. Not bad but not one I will remember in years to come...
