Review of Flatliners (2017) by Remilia S — 01 Oct 2017
Enjoyed the 1990 version enough that I wanted to see this remake/sequel. I was excited to see Kiefer Sutherland in this movie too. Kept waiting for him to pop in with a line like "I tried this already, it's dangerous and don't do it!" Spoiler alert: he doesn't.
Never does he do anything to reflect his character's continuity from the first movie. Spoilers: Anyway, same cheesy stuff, haunted by past memories and guilt and stuff. Nice to see that some of the characters made positive changes as a result, but come on, that could have happened without the whole "let's flatline and map our brains in a questionable device that looks like a cat scan machine but we say it has a magnet like an MRI machine and we've invented some random headset anyway to look more sciency.
" Some nice scary moments where we're not sure what is happening or if it's real or imagined, so nice for an October release when we want scary movies. It's only about 1hr 45 mins, so I guess they couldn't come up with anything else to fill the time.
