Why is it Hollywood remakes movies that already served their purpose? It's quite simple ... money. For an investor, it makes good sense. Even if the movie isn't the next classic, chances are there will be enough people who see it for them to double or triple their investment .
.. even more if the movie becomes popular. It doesn't matter if the story's already been told, or if this new version is cheesy and unoriginal. They get their money, and that's all there is to that.
