Review of Flashdance (1983) by Izi M — 17 Apr 2011
For an early 80s flick, one had to remember characters like Alex- a fiesty independent female welder who is a street trained dancer- was a new introduction into the norm of mainstream films. Watching it for the first time since childhood, I had to hold back laughter.
Obviously, like all other dance flicks to follow there is a lot of cheese, a terrible love story and some sort of adversity and poverty to overcome. Having said that, you cannot say no to the awesomeness of dance cheese, 80s costumes and a soundtrack that brought you 'What a feeling' and 'She's a maniac'.
