Review of Flashbacks of a Fool (2008) by Steve G — 30 Jul 2009
Baillie Walsh's indie drama about an off-the-rails Hollywood superstar who has to re-think the truly important things in life is brought down by the fact that it paints itself on too small a canvas.
Only concentrating on one staggered incident in Joe Scott (Daniel Craig)'s life, this just turns out to feel like an episode in some television drama. It doesn't offer any fresh insight into the human condition, nor does it populate iteslf with interesting characters.
Craig, as good as he is, does not have much flesh to bite on and seems to be just walking around in circles. Not bad, but nothing much.
