Review of Flash Point (2007) by Blank Man Aka J — 21 Feb 2008
A great throwback to the classic martial art films of the late 80's to mid 90's (an almost non existent plot sets up numerous moments for mind blowing fight choreography).
Personally i'm more than happy to sacrifice any hard story for jaw dropping fight scenes (especially nowadays with the way the hong kong film industry has been of late) & this is no exception :).
Yes the plot is totally on autopilot & shouldn't be paid close attention to but what wholeheartedly deserves you're attention is donnie yen's impressive choreography (without a doubt his finest work to date).
Especially the finale between yen & the hugely talented but underrated Collin Chou. Simply put, its one of the best fight scenes ever made. period. a 7 minute scene of gut wrenching, balls to the wall martial arts, with a little mma grappling thrown in for realism (which works to amazingly brutal effect) IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD :).
IN A WRAP: are you missing the films of the hong kong golden age like myself? prepare to have your hunger satisfied :).
