Flags of our Fathers is very engaging I cannot actually say if its real or not because like the line in the movie " Any jackass can say he knows what war is, particularity the ones who have never been in it" although I will say that I felt like I was there which is something that Clint Eastwood is very good at, he draws the viewer in and makes us care about the people on the screen.
I liked this film very much it does not hand everything to you its not just a typical "go America" war movie like Saving Private Ryan, its not dumbed down. The Island looked incredible in this film the cinematography is just simply beautiful.
The score is not overdone with the typical victory inspirational bullshit. The acting is well done no over dramatic performances and the actors seemed to want to do the characters justice. The film is about war all the way through with the battle on the island and then the battle when they get home, both are very well done and highly emotionally gripping.
Flags of our Fathers is a very well made film that does not go over the top like Saving Private Ryan. I am not sure why I waited so long to see this movie but now I look forward to seeing Letters From Iwo Jima.
Boy Clint Eastwood is good.
