If this film wouldn't had concentrated on the guys raising the flag, it probably would've been boring as hell. But with the flag and heroism as the central theme, it's more interesting and didn't turn out into another Saving Private Ryan.
The cuts back and forth seemed a bit excessive sometimes, but overall it was a nice experience.
