Review of Flags of Our Fathers (2006) by Ollie W — 23 Jul 2011
Eastwood's budget doesn't quite cover the complicated beach landing scenes and his ambition, can't elevate the woefully predictable storyline. Ultimately, though, its just too patriotic to be a success, indeed without the presence of the infinitely more intelligent second instalment, "Letters from Iwo Jima" this would be a completely insignificant exercise in painful American jingoism.
