Review of Flags of Our Fathers (2006) by Nicola W — 29 Dec 2011
Clint Eastwood's meditative look at the Battle of Iwo Jima and the effects of fame on the soldiers in the famous flag raising photograph suffers from a lack of focus. The script utilizes a nonlinear structure and this causes the film's viewpoint to change from scene to scene blocking the emotions and momentum of the action.
Still the film is worth seeing for both the epic battle sequences and a fine performance by Adam Beach.
