Review of Flags of Our Fathers (2006) by Kim B — 25 Jan 2012
Pretty good, thought the last half was kind of boring and emotionless with the narration. It started off really strong though with some awesome action scenes similar to the beginning Normandy scenes of Saving Private Ryan.
I think Eastwood wanted to show all the heroes from the book, but it just made it confusing, less important, and unfocused. I think they should have just stuck to talking more about those three main guys.
It's disgusting how our government used those heroes, only to toss them aside when it wasn't to their benefit anymore. I felt bad for Ira and thought he could've used some help instead of being sent back to war.
Interesting to find out the history behind that photo and the propaganda.
