Review of Flags of Our Fathers (2006) by Petros T — 13 Mar 2011
"FOOF" explicitly states that war is meaningless and disastrous. The combat scenes are very well-directed but their most significant and unique characteristic is the dark, almost sky-less photography.
There are also various symbolisms, the most potent of which is probably (don't laugh!) the strawberry syrup poured like blood over the statue/ cake. Articulate and shaking. My one and only question: what the hell did Clint need that flag for at the final sequence?
