Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Alex S — 19 Oct 2013
The ending can hardly be beat. Fits perfect and leaves you stunned, reminding me a lot of a Haneke film.
Great performances all around, especially by Nicholson and Black. I also thought the actor who played the father did an amazing job. You really could tell what he was feeling with his eyes.
I didn't feel too much for any of the characters, there was nothing particularly moving. The one part where he plays piano on the back of the moving truck made me smile.
I understood him though.
Good filmmaking. Not one of my favorites, but very well made.
