Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Tony P — 09 Aug 2016
A marvelous story about one man's distance from everyone he knows. It's great filmmaking, comfortably invasive and frighteningly personal. This contrasts with the characters perfectly, for there is a lot to see in them all.
Some are ignorant and shallow, some bare the image of shallowness, and one is physically incapable of expressing any sort of trait that may clue you into his psyche. And such is a uneventful world, filled with subtlety.
The cast is incredible, and the writing is perfect. Pay note to the contrast in music between Dupea's two separate worlds.
