Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Arin D — 23 Aug 2008
Herzog's obsessions are almost as large as that of the character portrayed by Klaus Kinski in this film: Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald (Fitzcarraldo). They had to be, considering what Kinski was putting the crew through (see videos).
The plot: an early 20th century blond opera-phile wills himself to carry a ship up a hill and ride down the Amazonian rapids, all for the love of Italian opera... I think a lot has been said about this film - and all I can say is that it is epic, and quite worth seeing.
