Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by M D — 04 Apr 2009
Indeed an epic and impressive adventure that survives with more credit to scenario than overall entertainment. A man and a village haul a steamboat over a mountain in the jungle. Kinski maintains his strangeness coupled with bizzare determination in the face of immense struggles.
A feat whose sheer magnitude is matched by its sheer destruction of the land. The destruction of an entire mountainside comments significantly on man's place in the world.
