Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Stuart K — 26 Feb 2010
Exquisite in it's grandeur, and the fact that all of the crazy things that were done in the film were done in reality. The plot is as winding as the river it takes place on, and the ending is laced with a nice helping of irony.
However, there really isn't a strong conclusion, which adds to it's art house nature, but still makes me wonder exactly what the entire point of the film was. Sometimes it doesn't matter though, as this is truly epic filmmaking that is all but gone from this world.
