Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Scott G — 06 Apr 2011
A great foreign language film.
My third werner herzog film but after more popular fair like exellent documentary grizzly man, and christian bale film rescue dawn, which I likes a lot, here were back in the jungle as a bold busisness man, sees a certain part of a jungle is not being commercially used, this down to boats being only way in cant get that far, he sees a way where he can detour, and, heres where crazyness comes in bring boat out of water and transport it acros forest land to other river, which is where busines prposition is, a fasinating look at mad business men and what theyll do to get rich, part of film is set to travelling, and reminds me of apocolypse now, and rest of film reminds me howard hughes would be this charactor. scenes of boat getting pulled and anguish faced is amazing, a great shout out to klaus kinski as the business man, hes simply superb, hertzog does great direction here, capturing madness well, im gonna watch more of his I think.
