Review of Fist Fight (2017) by Gael C — 17 Feb 2017
It is sadly understandable why Fist Fight might not be seen as a good comedy to many. It does fall into the same cliches most comedies do these day. "Put the cameras on the actors and let them improvise", "Include shock humor for the sake of shock humor", "Write in a lot of swearing and penis jokes".
It's been done so much that it makes people think that the entire movie will just be a repeat. And for most of the movie it was. But I actually got surprised to see the third act being well handled.
I wasn't expecting to be caring about Charlie Day's character by the end of if, but when the third act started it's possible to notice that the story was actually building to something. And it does deliver.
It's even more surprising to see that the fight scene is 10 times better and much more entertaining then any fight scene in Underworld: Blood Wars or Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. (Even if you consider that the end of the fight could've been better).
So yeah, it's surprisingly not as bad as I thought.
