Review of First They Killed My Father (2017) by Ciara A — 17 Sep 2017
Amazing film. Incredibly moving -- and while emotionally harrowing, is also very hopeful. Beautiful cinematography. Amazing acting. This is about so much more than the Khmer Rouge takeover in Cambodia, but also the country's rich arts environment prior, the power of family love, and the dangers of the "us vs them" mentality.
An important step towards reviving Cambodia's once-vibrant film scene.
