Review of First Reformed (2018) by Max D — 28 May 2018
I didn't like this movie. The story was absurd - good writing develops a character in a realistic way, with a proper relationship between cause and effect, especially when the effect is a murderous crime committed by a man shown to us as peaceful and spiritual.
If you simply present the audience with character developments that have no justification or antecedents the result is a pathetic script - which the First Reformed script is.
