Review of First Man (2018) by Axet — 13 Jan 2019
Earnest visceral and intimate treatment of most important of historical events widely covered in all manner and lodged in the cultural consciousness for 50 years, this does add a stylistically contemporary cinematic updating that puts you there perhaps more than ever before.
It's also needlessly prolonged in its annoyingly too tight handheld photography which should have been more measured for effect! Surprisingly it drags even more than epics typically do considering its new look into the real hero's personal life.
