Review of First Man (2018) by Leo K — 03 Jan 2019
A focus piece on the actual person, as the title of the movie implies.
Lots of things go wrong for the sake of drama (and actual historical accounts), followed by a very quiet film-noir-like flight and landing on the moon.
The director transports the viewer as deeply into the role of the astronaut as possible - literally putting you into the seat, and taking you into space.
I guess that's why I enjoyed this quite a bit. Instead of a 3-rd person view of the rocket going into space... we actually sit in the seat, and hear and feel the rocket.
Very well done.
