Review of First Man (2018) by Stefano C — 13 Oct 2018
"First Man" reminded me of "Apollo 13" but unfortunately not because it's a great movie about space, but because is a disaster! But unlike "Apollo 13", nothing saved it, not even Ryan Gosling.
The film is amazingly slow and claustrophobic, and the direction too. I guess that was supposed to be the point: the smallness of the "tin can" in contradiction with the infinity of space, but ends up being tedious and smug.
The moon landing is one of the most amazing stories in human history (beside the fact that you believe it really happened or not), so was not easy to take out all the passion from it, but they did it.
I save the acting and the ending, which by the way, was not really a surprise. Bad.
