Review of First Man (2018) by Jim L — 11 Oct 2018
One of the most depressing movies I have seen in quite a while. I understand the desire to not want to do another hero worship movie of the Apollo astronauts. Also one can appreciate the introspective look at Armstrong's life and personal sacrifices made by all involved.
But this particular treatment goes too far in the other direction, and you're left with the impressions that Neil Armstrong was a deeply troubled man, emotionally detached from life and his family, and practically on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
