Review of First Blood (1982) by Ben L — 12 Nov 2012
Date-night approved! Remember to bring a good supply of body bags and curl up with some snacks that would make a billy goat puke for this masterpiece. A hungry Sly Stallone draws a hard line when Brian Dennehy tells him to thumb it up the highway 30 miles to the next diner.
But Dennehy soon finds out this is no ordinary Big Mac Attack. A routine police shower assault soon turns into a motorcycle-clotheslining, hound-dog-chasing, Art-Gault-killing frenzy that turns Jerkwater, USA on its heels.
Especially moving is Rambo's barely-decipherable ammo-laden soliloquy to his former colonel, pure poetry. You'll soon realize that nothing is over, nothing, as this film continues to astonish and captivate the audience.
