Review of Firewall (2006) by Julian K — 10 May 2009
In a word: uninspired. It's not a terrible movie, but writer's have to realize that you cannot build suspense with a guy sitting a keyboard or talking computer jargon ad nauseam. By the time the film really gets going they simply have not developed enough investment in the characters, which is what the film has to be about otherwise it fails. And thus, this film fails to draw the audience in.
Good performances, great production values and top notch direction/cinematography. But, without a story that you want to watch, it isn't really watchable. Really makes you long for the old Harrison Ford who really knew how to pick intelligent action films.
