Review of Fires on the Plain (1959) by William R — 24 Aug 2008
A nightmarish descent into the very base instincts of the human psyche. Not really a war movie per se; much like Hell in the Pacific, this film seems to use WWII merely as a convenient backdrop to tell it's story, which is effective in the extreme.
Don't watch this if you're trying to cheer yourself up.
