Review of Fire in the Sky (1993) by Jason Y — 22 Feb 2004
When I was real little, movies used to scare me. I remember the first two films that I really had trouble watching: Wes Craven's New Nightmare and Fire in the Sky...
Fire in the Sky (Lieberman, 1993) - **.
I don't know if the SciFi channel edited down Robert Lieberman's Fire in the Sky for time concerns or content, but it is not the same film I remember being petrified of as a child. The film is essentially a B-movie with a terrifying sequence during the last half hour of the film which pins an alien abductee with this abducters for their interpretation of "the probe" by means of a sharp needle's insertion into the eye. Yet any script which uses the word "cockamamie" is on to something. May this film achieve cult status? Probably not, but it does star T-1000. In retrospect, I feel this is a great film for a parent to show their kid if that kid is a little too young to see the adult movies they want to. Just turn off the lights, leave them alone, and let the nightmares begin.
