Review of Fire Birds (1990) by Dinobeam — 17 Apr 2017
Wow this movie blew me away! I had heard the 90's audience didn't understand it and thus gave it a bad review, and I love lynch, but I still didn't expect it to be this good. I heard it had no humor in it, it has tons.
I heard it was all despair, it isn't. It has almost the same balance as the show. Sheryl Lee gives one of the very best performances I've ever witnessed, as if she hadn't done well enough with the show.
I thought I might not like seeing Laura Palmer's life before her death, which is the mystery of the show, and I was blown away at how well it was done, and how absolutely glued to the screen I was. Donna has been replaced due to a scheduling conflict and I like her replacement better! I am still left in shock by how satisfying this movie was, especially with all the hype surrounding it after watching the series.
Watching the series first is a must.
