Review of Finding Vivian Maier (2014) by Michael M — 31 Aug 2014
Finding Vivian Maier is more detective story than it is documentary, but that doesn't make this smashing film from directors John Maloof and Charlie Siskel any less revelatory, as it reveals the life of a terrific photographer whose talents were hidden in plain sight for decades while she worked as a nanny.
She was Vivian Maier, and by the looks of her haunting, funny and long-unknown street portraits, she was a sort of Mary Poppins living a secret life as a Diane Arbus. Truly fascinating.
