Review of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005) by Cassandra C — 17 Feb 2013

When I first watched the movie I hadn't played the game. I knew a few scant basics, things like Sephiroth was an evil bastard who crossed the moral event horizion and tried to destroy the world, and that Cloud killed him with a BFS.

I watched the movie.

There were a few small things I at first did not understand. But the movie did a perfect job of explaining everything, so that someone who'd never played a final fantasy game in their life, could understand what was going on.

Also, in the DVD release, there was a 30 minute short with footage from the original game, with further detail on the events of the game, as well as trailers for the 3 as then upcoming games: Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus.
