Review of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) by Diogo S — 26 Feb 2011
Spiritual sci-fi about a rogue meteor crashing to Earth and infesting the planet with deadly alien spirits. A brilliant scientist and his protege have an unconventional theory which explains the alien presence and how to defeat it, but are met with skeptcism and outcast as heretics.
In order to save the planet they must collect eight hidden spirits from around the globe and use them to repeal the alien invasion. I thought the plot was very interesting and unique, I only wish they would've done a better job explaining what the eight spirits were.
Aside from that, the voice acting is great and the animation still holds up a decade later. A must see for fans of the genre.
