Review of Final Destination (2000) by Kyle L — 22 Feb 2013

Final Destination is one of the most surprising Horror films I've ever watched and it is also one of the best Horror films in the 21st Century. This movie is about a young man name Alex Browning who has a vision of the plane going to explode and after he saved his friends he soon realized that death is still after them and Alex and Clear Rivers must save the other survivors in order to cheat death once and for all.

To be honest I had a fun time watching this movie and this movie seriously delivered the goods and its the best out of all the Final Destination films next to Final Destination 5. I seriously love this movie and I totally love the concept of death manipulating the environment in killing the survivors rather than having the grim reaper as the main antagonist instead death manipulates the environment in killing all those survivors who were supposed to die in the plane crash and I totally enjoyed this movie and it never gets boring and there are lots of big surprises that the movie delivers.

What's great about Final Destination is that the whole film is full of suspense, tension and its also thrilling at the exact same time. There are lots of suspenceful scenes in this movie like the scene where Alex saves Carter Horton from getting ran over by a train in the train tracks that is one of the most suspenceful scenes in the film.

The scene where Alex tries to save Mrs. Lewton is also the most suspenceful scene in the film and the airplane premonition is also one of the best opening scenes I've seen in the movie and the most suspenceful scene in the film and there are other scenes also that are really suspenceful which I totally enjoyed watching in the movie so far.

What I also like about this movie is that the whole film has a really unique atmosphere that gives the movie a dark feel and this movie totally had the best cinematography used in a Horror film and I totally enjoyed the film's deliberate atmosphere and overall the atmosphere is well used in the movie so far.

The other things that I like about this film is that the whole movie is also full of characters that are well developed and all of the characters are believable and likable at the same time and I as fund of some of the characters in this film some of them were fun and some were just believable which I seriously like in the movie and I seriously like the idea of this film so far.

The other highlights I totally enjoyed in this movie is mostly the death scenes in this film. Although the deaths in this movie may not be as gory as the later on Final Destination sequels death scenes the kills are still inventive and painful to watch there's only one death scene where the gore was used once only.

Tod's death scene where he gets strangled by the wire while he's hanging his clothes in the bathroom is one of the most painful death scenes in the film. Terry's death is one of the most intense kills in this film.

Billy Hitchcock's decapitation death scene was pretty impressive and it may not be gory but it is overall the most suspenceful death scene in the film while Mrs. Lewton's death is the goriest death scene I've seen in the film and I think it is the most gruesome death scene in the film so far because it is the only death scene that used gore only because the rest of the death scenes didn't have any gore although they're all fun to watch so far in the film.

Now the acting is great the performances of the casts did a really good job with their work in the film. Devon Sawa did a really good job with his role as the protagonist Alex Browning and his performance in the film is just impressive.

Ali Larter did a good job as well with her role in the film as Alex's love interest Clear Rivers. Kerr Smith did a unique and impressive job with his work in the film as the hot headed bully and rival of Alex Carter Horton and Seann William Scott did a good job with his role as Billy Hitchcock an overall all of the casts did a wonderful job with their work in the film so far.

Director James Wong did a really good job with his work in this movie and I was impressed with his stylish directing on this film even Glen Morgan and Final Destination series creator Jeffrey Riddick did a good job in making the first installment in the Final Destination series and they totally nailed they're work in the film so far and I was overall impressed with the ideas of the filmmakers in making this movie so far.

Overall Final Destination gets a 10/10 because this movie delivers the goods and it has a lot of impressive ideas and big surprises that can wow the audience. I highly recommend you to watch this movie and consider it as an entertaining time killer if you're looking for a good time to get scared and freak out and if you're also interested to watch a lot of kills that will make you jump and squirm.
