I think this is a feel-good comedy. It's like a young adult movie about accepting the inevitability of death but it's fun. I think the critics are missing the point of this movie. It's not supposed to be terrifying or character driven.
It's just pure entertainment with the simple and obvious message which is, "you can't cheat death.".
