Review of Final Destination (2000) by Loubna H — 03 Jun 2010
For all the bad reviews and ratings this film has got I just can't see why...
I mean I just loved it! The concept of being able to cheat death and finding out how death works was just a new level for slasher movies, and yes some of the acting was a bit dodgy but what do you expect there playing teenage kids? So all you 'adults' shitting on their performances, well there just playing what you used to be and personally I thought Devon Sawa's fantastic performance is under-rated for teenage actors.
The storyline was very very interesting and never failed to keep me engaged in the film the entire time.
Story: School kids are leaving for a school trip to paris, but when Alex Browning has a dream about the plane exploding and everyone dying, he and 6 other people are asked to leave the plane...JUST BEFORE IT EXPLODES!!
After this experience Alex realises he has broken a cycle that shows us when we will die "Cheated Death" as he claims. And this is what continues throughout the film (Funking brilliant).
And even though the deaths were very stupidly done like Billy's death and others, It was still better to think when the deaths could happen than how they would happen.
All round I think anyone who enjoys a good slasher/horror film I recommend this greatly.
4/5.
