Review of Final Cut (1993) by Walter M — 26 Dec 2005
:fresh: [I]The Final Cut is a futuristical film about how human beings has achieved to manipulate human minds by an implant in the brain that makes you remember all that the editor wants.
Williams is the editor, the best of EYE TECH. But he also has a chip in his brain that he didn't know he had and he has a trauma also, a childhood trauma that makes him feel guilty, so the film is about this searching and about the case of Charles Bannister a criminal and puritaine man whose life is chased desperately by Caviezel who finds the chip destroyed and killed Williams to discover the truth.
The film sounds very interesting about the point of manipulate minds but the system has a defect: it can't distinguish between reality and dreams. The rythum of this film is very slow and becomes boring, Robin Williams can't be serious!!, he's bitter and in this film he looks like he wanted to laugh and seems he tights his mouth to avaoid his laughing, he's so serious and looks so false. Sorvino is useless and Caviezel is decent, but he's also boring.
An independent proposal that is experimental, but the direction wasn't good. 90 minutes that seemed to be more than 2 hours!. The only good thing about it is the film lenghts what it should lenght.
