Review of Filth (2013) by Tom M — 06 Oct 2013
This is a tale not for the feint of heart. From the mind of Irvine Walsh (Trainspotting) this is a sordid tale of corruption, drugs, sex, alcohol &... well... filth...
With a good solid British cast, it was helped by a really, really good preformance from James McAvoy. A nice turn of events recently to see him play the scumbag that we love to hate.
The direction was good, it felt very British, with quite an artsy touch to it all.
All in all a film that has more emotions going around it than the cocktail of filth that McAvoy pumped into his system throughout. I have the feeling that this movie won't recive the aclaim it deserves. But make no mistake that this is a top preformance from McAvoy that now makes him a very intimidating character.
