Review of Filth (2013) by Deborah P — 16 Oct 2013
Can't give it a full 5 stars because whilst brilliant it is not something I would watch more than twice. Great movie nonetheless, but don't go in expecting a typical McAvoy vehicle. This is Irvine Welsh's movie pure and simple.
Think Trainspotting, but after years and years of drugs, life lessons and disappointment. You won't need tissues for this, but keep the Samaritans number to hand! Not comfortable viewing by any means but well worth watching.
Some strikingly funny moments, but awash in a sea of blackness, despair and disturbing imagery. Most of my friends won't like this, but some, and you know who you are without me outing you, will love the depravity of it all.
