Review of Filth (2013) by Richard S — 02 Feb 2014
I recently finished reading Irvine Welsh's book and although it took a while to understand (through the harsh Scottish dialect), it was a great read, as funny as it was shocking. This transfers reasonably well to film.
James McAvoy is perfect as corrupt cop on a downward spiral Bruce Robertson, plus the other actors fit their roles pretty well too. The only thing I didn't like were 2 fairly significant changes to the storyline that had a fairly big impact on the character and the ending of the film, I think the producers may have bottled it on the original ending which is a shame.
Well worth watching, you may get a little more out of it if you give the book a go first.
