Review of Fight Club (1999) by Stefan G — 07 Aug 2013
I really wanted to like this movie, but I feel as though I don't know what to say about this. Like Raging Bull, this is one of those "culturally important" films that have been hailed as classics, but for me, it often doesn't make a lot of sense, and it has the tendency of taking very long to get its message across.
The characters are all fine, but often, the characters can be very mean-spirited for what appears to be no reason. I know that in the film the characters are supposed to be venting their frustrations, but the film seems to be awfully pre-occupied with this.
The way I see it, Fight Club had a lot of potential. If it had its priorities straight, then maybe it could have been great.
